To prepare for the consultation:
- What documents or medical records do you need? Do I need to provide them or will my oncologist's office send them?
- How long will the appointment be? What should I expect and who will I meet?
During the consultation(s):
- Have you treated many patients who have the same type of cancer as me?
- Do I need to have any other tests, scans, or imaging done? What will they cost?
- What treatment option(s) do you recommend and why? In which order? Is this the same or different from my oncologist's recommendations?
- Should I speak with any other specialists for their opinion?
To prepare for the consultation:
- How long will I need to be at the CAR T medical center?
- What should I expect and who will I meet? Is there a social worker at this center who can help connect me with support and services?
- Will I have more than one appointment as part of the consultation?
- What should I bring to my appointment(s)? (e.g., insurance card, etc.)
- If needed: Do you have any suggestions for parking, lodging, transportation, food, etc.?
- What else can I do to prepare for the appointment(s)?
- What kinds of tests might I take or need to retake?
- How will we know if CAR T is right for me?
